From petrol to electric: what you need to know.

Been riding on petrol for years? Here is what changes with an electric motorcycle, good charging habits, and how to look after it so it lasts.

What changes

No more petrol
You charge at home on a 220 V outlet with the supplied charger, or with fast charging at an Ehu station. No more trips to the pump.
Simpler servicing
No spark plug, no air filter, no exhaust. Servicing covers the brakes, tyres, drivetrain and battery; on mid-drive models, such as the Élégance and the Finesse, it also includes an oil change.
Silence
The motorcycle makes almost no noise. Pedestrians and other road users will not hear you coming: stay alert, and use your horn.
Full power from the start
An electric motor delivers its power as soon as you twist the throttle. For the first few days, accelerate gently, especially with a passenger.
The battery level
It replaces the fuel gauge. Keep an eye on it on the dashboard, and charge before you run flat: it is better for the battery, and you never get stranded.

With the supplied charger, on a 220 V outlet, or at an Ehu station.
Overnight at home: the motorcycle is ready in the morning.
Do not wait for the battery to be empty before charging it.
After a long ride or in full sun, let the battery cool down for a few minutes before plugging it in.
Charge in a dry, ventilated place, sheltered from the rain.
If the motorcycle is not ridden for several weeks, charge it from time to time.

Open the battery, or remove its labels and seals: only an Ehu technician opens it.
Ride through deep water, or leave the motorcycle in a flooded area.
Exceed the motorcycle’s maximum load.
Charge with any charger other than the one supplied.
Have the motorcycle, or its software, repaired or modified anywhere other than at Ehu Motors or its partners.
Wash the motorcycle with a high-pressure jet, especially near the battery and connections.

Every 3 months or every 5,000 km, whichever comes first, at Ehu Motors or its partners.
On chain-driven motorcycles, chain servicing every 1,000 km.
Tyres, brake pads and the chain wear out, as on any motorcycle: the workshop checks them at every service.
