Our story
Ehu began with a simple question, put to hundreds of motorcycle-taxi drivers between Cotonou and Lomé: what motorcycle do you need to make a living?
Ehu Motors is the longest-established electric mobility company in Benin, and the first to have built a network of charging stations there.
2020
Ehu Motors SARL is founded in Cotonou and research and development begins: more than 600 motorcycle-taxi drivers interviewed, between Cotonou and Lomé, about their work, their income and their motorcycles.
2021 and 2022
Prototypes tested directly with riders.
2022 and 2023
The motorcycles are designed for our roads, with reinforced frames for full days of work.
2024
In January 2024, the showroom opens its doors in Cotonou and the first Ehu motorcycles hit the road: the commercial launch.
2025
The whole system is up and running, from the motorcycle to its servicing.
August 2025
In front of the showroom, zemidjan drivers discover the new models.

Discover the NovaIn 2020, three Beninese entrepreneurs started from a simple observation: in Cotonou, zemidjan (motorcycle-taxi) drivers breathe their motorcycles’ exhaust all day long, and fuel eats up a large share of what they earn. They decided to build something different: an electric motorcycle designed for this work, and everything it needs around it.
As one Ehu rider told us: “Before, half of what I earned went on fuel. With Ehu, I keep more for my children.”

In Fongbe, Ehu evokes change, evolution, revolution. That is what we want to bring to motorcycles in Benin. Hence our slogan: join the electric revolution.
